Group tax chiefs from some of the UK's biggest listed companies to discusshow tax can be a key contributior to business success at the CIoT Commerce andIndustry Group's annual conference


Some of the UK's most influential corporate accountants are gearing up for ahigh-profile summit meeting hosted by the CIoT.

In the wake of an election in which tax was a key plank of party manifestos,industry figures from the UK's biggest companies will be discussing how the taxframework can be a key contributor to business success at the CIoT Commerce& Industry Group's annual conference on 16 September.

Group tax chiefs giving their views will include Barclays' IanMenzies-Conacher, Helen Jones, senior VP of global tax at GlaxoSmithKline, PaulMorton from Reed Elsevier, Rio Tinto's Chris Lenon and Jeff Connell, Shell'sgroup tax reporting manager.

"The importance of tax to business can be readily understood from the UKGovernment?s recent responses to the representations on tax policy made bybusiness in recent years," the CIoT said.

"It must be the business tax practitioner?s aim to ensure that the businessor businesses they work for optimise their tax positions and effectively managetheir relationship with revenue authorities."
