it's a way to provide quality services by reducing variation..it's related to TQM and kaizen costing i.e continous improvement.

Maybe too late now, but read notes by either searching the web for 6 sigma or buy a book " 6 sigma for dummies" if available at your neighbourhood book store. Quite useful to me for more knowledge. DMAIC problem solving method.
