examination docket states "BLACK PEN". isn't it better to just follow instruction?

Only black ball pen is allowed as the papers will be scanned .

This is quoted directly from the 'On-Screen marking for exams - important information' that was enclosed with my June 2010 exam attendance docket:

> Please use black ballpoint pen at all times; to complete your details on the booklet and when answering the exam questions.
